A study of the history of exorcisms in Ireland through drama, lore and a shamanic healing ritual.
In recent years, there has been a large increase in Catholic Church-sanctioned exorcisms in Ireland. We talk to a priest to understand the Church’s perspective, learn of cases of supposed possession in a priest’s seminary, and witness a deliverance performed by a shaman. And we film a play that was staged in Ireland a full 30 years before the film The Exorcist, which relates the tale of an alleged possession of a young girl in a small town in County Clare.
